Manchester United winger, Antony, has been dropped from the Brazil national team after allegations of physical assault were made toward the player by his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin.
News broke on Monday with Brazilian website, UOL publishing an article highlighting Cavallin’s accusations as she sat down with the Brazilian publication in an interview. Unreleased audio and video footage was published by the publication to back up Cavallin’s accusations.
Cavallin explains that the Manchester United player attacked her constantly between June 2022 and May 2023 with one of those instances ending with her cutting her finger to the bone after a glass was thrown at her.
Cavallin goes on to say that Antony attacked her whilst pregnant on holiday in Brazil after he attacked and threatened to throw her out of the car. It has not been made clear as to what the reason was for the loss of Cavallin’s child at just 16 weeks of pregnancy, but many are speculating in light of this recent report.
According to Cavallin, the first incident of this year happened in January after Antony punched and headbutted his ex-girlfriend which resulted in one of her breast implants being dislodged. “And then I came to Brazil for surgery. I had to change the prosthesis.”
In June 2023 Gabriela Cavallin filed are report in Brazil against Antony after describing the terror she felt on 8 May. “Antony locked the door of the house and wouldn't let me leave, and I had my finger open, all hurt. He broke my things and took my passport.”
After the recent allegations made toward him, Antony has this evening put out a statement outlining his innocence. “I
trust that ongoing police investigations will demonstrate the truth about my innocence.”
Last month, Manchester United decided to release Mason Greenwood 18 months after video and audio footage emerged online that suggested his involvement in a sexual assault matter. Since then, all charges have been dropped against the former United player and he has since joined Getafe on loan.
